Library

The library of Astronomical Observatory was established in 1919 (the same year when the Poznan University and Observatory itself were founded). Initially the library collection consisted of about 400 books, brought to Poznan by dr Kazimierz Graff, Polish astronomer working in Hamburg, who was asked by rector of Poznan University to help organize the Observatory in Poznan.

Currently the library has about 14 000 volumes (mostly in English, German and Russian language), among them more than 4000 astronomical almanacs, bulletins, and results of observations, published by several astronomical institutions all over the world.

The catalogue is sorted by subject (catalogue structure).

Structurally, the Library of the Astronomical Observatory Institute is a part of the Library of the Faculty of Physics.
