Meteoroids 2013 - First announcement

Meteoroids 2013 will be the eighth international conference in a series of meetings on meteors, meteoroids, meteorites and related topics, which have been held since 1993. The last meeting, Meteoroids 2010 was held in Breckenridge, a high altitude resort in Colorado, USA.

Meteoroids 2013 will be five-day meeting from 26 - 30 August 2013 - will be organized in Poznań, Poland, by the Physics Department of the A.M. University. It immediately follows the IMO meeting at the same location.

The conference will accommodate a broad range of meteoroid research which will include the following scientific topics:

  1. Optical observations of meteors (visual, photographic, and video, new techniques, data reduction, results).
  2. Radar observations of meteors (classical and large aperture, new techniques, data reduction, results).
  3. Other meteor observation techniques and programs (new and future techniques and programs, infra sound, seismic records).
  4. Meteoroid data bases ( MDC, database structure, reduction and precision of meteoroid data, data standards).
  5. Meteoroid interactions with atmospheres (impacts, ablation, fragmentation, bolides modeling, astrobiology).
  6. Meteoroid and dust dynamics (gravitational, non gravitational).
  7. Meteoroid relationships with comets and asteroids (meteoroid streams, searching techniques, evolution, activity forecasting).
  8. Sporadic meteoroids and dust (origin, meteoroid flux, impact hazard, space debris).
  9. Physical properties of meteoroids and meteorites (including dust, astromineralogy).
  10. Interstellar Meteors and Dust (observational evidences, origin, astrobiology).
  11. Historical records (meteor showers, bolides, meteorites, comets).
  12. Outreach and relation with amateur meteor astronomers.
